JBE-Tuesday’s Challenge

Posted in Creative Cuts & More, Jacksonbelle Embellishments, Technique Junkie at 3:24 am

This week’s challenge for Jacksonbelle Embellishment DT’s is Autumn/Fall colors or Thanksgiving.  Well, I have to admit things have been getting extremely busy at my paid job (I work for the Idaho Dept of Labor) and we have several companies with hundreds of workers being permanently laid off - my energy these days seems to be spent helping those who have lost their jobs….. but I do have a couple of projects I wanted to share - some of you may have seen them through PatStamps Technique Junkie Newsletter - they both use the “Ribbon Through” technique described in October 08 mailing and sampled on the website.  I really like this technique - I never know what to do with all those little pieces of ribbon leftovers - this is a perfect way to use all those pieces I just can’t bear to toss in the trash.

For both samples, rather than using punches, I wanted a little larger image to work with and showcase my ribbon through - well, Creative Cuts & More was able to help me out with that.  I asked Terry to custom die cut using her leaf dies with Bazzill paper….. she sent me the negative images and then I went to work with the ribbon technique. The “Autumn” sample uses Basic Grey ribbon, a little Copper Encore ink, nailhead brads and call that one complete. The pumpkin sample uses Bazzill paper and negative die - I ran it through my Cuttlebug first then highlighted/distressed areas with Chocolate Chip ink (SU).  Can’t you just see holiday dies with the technique - like tree ornaments? snowflakes? candy canes? Christmas trees?  I think it could go on and on…. take a quick look at Creative Cuts and More for all your die choices - then take a look at all those little ribbon pieces you just can’t seem to toss - and for even more ribbon ideas and one of the best values is PatStamps Technique Junkies newsletter - gives you even more ideas and ways to use the products you’ve already (most likely) got on hand.

See how the other JBE DT members used their creative juices for this challenge - links to their blog on the righthand side bar.  Enjoy and Create, Lila

Tuesday Challenge - Baby’s First

Posted in Jacksonbelle Embellishments, Recent projects, Technique Junkie at 5:01 am

It’s Tuesday’s Challenge with Jacksonbelle Embellishments - this week was a color challenge and I got to choose the color - PINK!!! PINK with any color combo…. now when I think of pink, I think of Cambria……. she’s the pink queen you know…… she made pink popular and trendy again!!! still……. As I sat down to think about my project I knew it had to include some of those new AWESOME Cuttlebug Embossing folders - Lindsey has them in stock you know - and as fast as her service is . . . well you could have them by the end of the week!!! I also knew I wanted to keep going with some of my Christmas projects….. I’ve been working on my Mother’s birthday project (her birthday is the first part of September). What do you give your Mom that is special, unique??? especially considering she has everything she needs….. Well, after seeing Michelle Wooderson’s quilting card projects, the lights went off. My grandmother was a master quilt trade’s woman!!! She passed several years ago but not before quilting, and I mean the real thing with all that stitching of an intricate design, quits for all her grandchildren - I’ve personally lost count how many grand and great-grand children she had…. but she made quits for milestones in our lives like when we were born, getting married, having our own children, graduating from high school - true workwomanship and a labor of love. My Mother has also done some quilting - I do have to say and she would probably agree that not quite to caliber of my Grandmother’s quilting abilities. Anyway I’ve been making cards that look like quits, will make a special box or altered tin to hold them and give to others for special occasions throughout the year…..

So my PINK card, I think looks like it has been quilted - at least the background. The technique was featured in PatStamps Technique Junkies’ Oct/Nov 07 newsletter and is called “Cuttlebug Smoosh” (by the way, ENABLER ALERT!!! Pat has a special for all the past newsletters and 6th Edition CD - if you love techniques and getting the most from your products - it’s a must have - with full photo, step-by-step tutorials and samples galore). Enough rambling….
