Tuesday’s Challenge-BLING!!!

Posted in Creative Cuts & More, Jacksonbelle Embellishments, Recent projects at 4:57 am

Our Jacksonbelle Embellishment’s Tuesday Challenge this week is to use BLING, SHIMMERZ, or anything that shines and shimmers!  Lindsey offers sooooo many dazzling items in her store - Glimmer Mists, Shimmerz and & Blingz, Prima -Say it in Crystals, and Stickles (including all the new colors!!!). My card sample doesn’t have a great deal of stamping - in fact just the sentiment (Inkadinkado).  The focal image is from Creative Cuts & More - using Velvet paper die cut and layered to make a Poinsietta - the center is a “Say it in Crystal” (Prima).  Cardstock is yummy Bazzill Bling paper (from Creative Cuts & More); and the Pattern Paper is Imaginisce (from JBelle). Ribbon (Prima), Nestabilities die cuts.  Take a look….

bling.jpg

Now I missed posting for last week - where we used some of our “Favorite” JBelle products….. here’s mine - it was really hard to decide what was my favorite….. I used a Cuttlebug folder, Memory Box stamps for the main image and sentiment, and some Basic Grey paper, May Arts Ribbon - all available from JBelle…….

Now for my cards challenge this week!!

This week our challenge was to make a card with snowflakes/holidays - basically symbols that represent this time of year to ourselves.  Since my husband works in the lumber/timber industry I always, always have to make some cards using Evergreens - he really likes the more realistic type images- while I like the realistic, I really like the more whimsical type these days.  Here’s my sample…..

11-18-post.jpg

Not alot of stamping on this sample - just the sentiment from Memory Box - but take a look at those die cut, embossed and detailed trees!!!!  That’s using Cuttlebug dies and embossing combos!!!  Lindsey has these Tree Tops!!!! in stock (she also has the cutest Snow Fun and For You).  The pattern paper is from Imaginisce (also available from JBelle).  The snowflake is Heidi Swapp ghost shape first painted with an off-white acrylic paint and then covered with Sky Blue Shimmerz!!!! Dies are from Spellbinders, ribbon is May Arts, Linen Vellum is from Papertrey Ink……  now since I’ve been absent for the last two weeks (not posting for the challenges)…. I did a Kisa case a couple of weeks ago but time - well it just got away from me sooooooooo here’s my Kisa case (looking at it I guess I could use for this week’s challenge too!!!! Birds and Evergreens - also representative of the holidays and this time of year!!!)

kisa-case.jpg

kisa-case-up-close.jpg

It’s almost identical to Kisa’s sample and even uses one of her cool techniques where she uses VersaMagic chalk inks on her rubber and then puts some of those wonder Shimmerz paints on!!!!  I loved her sample and knew right away I had to make this.  Rubber stamp is from Inkadinkado, die cut bird (Spellbinders), and that bling is BLINGZ - Spiced Cider (limited edition) from Shimmerz.  Thanks for letting me share.  Be sure to take a look at the other JBelle DT members for great inspiration - links on the right sidebard…… Enjoy and Create, Lila

JBE-Tuesday’s Challenge

Posted in Creative Cuts & More, Jacksonbelle Embellishments, Technique Junkie at 3:24 am

This week’s challenge for Jacksonbelle Embellishment DT’s is Autumn/Fall colors or Thanksgiving.  Well, I have to admit things have been getting extremely busy at my paid job (I work for the Idaho Dept of Labor) and we have several companies with hundreds of workers being permanently laid off - my energy these days seems to be spent helping those who have lost their jobs….. but I do have a couple of projects I wanted to share - some of you may have seen them through PatStamps Technique Junkie Newsletter - they both use the “Ribbon Through” technique described in October 08 mailing and sampled on the website.  I really like this technique - I never know what to do with all those little pieces of ribbon leftovers - this is a perfect way to use all those pieces I just can’t bear to toss in the trash.

ribbon-through-2.jpg

ribbon-through.jpg

For both samples, rather than using punches, I wanted a little larger image to work with and showcase my ribbon through - well, Creative Cuts & More was able to help me out with that.  I asked Terry to custom die cut using her leaf dies with Bazzill paper….. she sent me the negative images and then I went to work with the ribbon technique. The “Autumn” sample uses Basic Grey ribbon, a little Copper Encore ink, nailhead brads and call that one complete. The pumpkin sample uses Bazzill paper and negative die - I ran it through my Cuttlebug first then highlighted/distressed areas with Chocolate Chip ink (SU).  Can’t you just see holiday dies with the technique - like tree ornaments? snowflakes? candy canes? Christmas trees?  I think it could go on and on…. take a quick look at Creative Cuts and More for all your die choices - then take a look at all those little ribbon pieces you just can’t seem to toss - and for even more ribbon ideas and one of the best values is PatStamps Technique Junkies newsletter - gives you even more ideas and ways to use the products you’ve already (most likely) got on hand.

See how the other JBE DT members used their creative juices for this challenge - links to their blog on the righthand side bar.  Enjoy and Create, Lila

JBE Tuesday “Christmas” Challenge

Posted in Jacksonbelle Embellishments, Recent projects at 4:01 am

The Jacksonbelle Embellishment DT’s challenge this week was to make it “Christmas” - I love this holiday and have so many fond memories of being a child and even an parent with children celebrating with family traditions.  I’ve been working slowly but surely on getting my cards made - I’m still working on getting a prototype done for my husband’s colleges - he’s in the lumber and timber business - so his always, always has to have an evergreen of some sort - and must be realistic - and since they primarily go (worldwide) and to the male species - can’t have a great deal of ribbon or bling……. but for the rest of family and friends I can make cute, whimsical, glittery stuff!!!

There are so many CUTE holiday papers already in stores and hitting the shelves - not to mention I may have a little left over from last year - Lindsey has a great assortment at Jacksonbelle Embellishments - along with rubber and all the accessories - be sure to check it out!!!  Here’s my card for the “Christmas” challenge - I also used Splitcoaststampers sketch challenge SC198:

jbe-believe.jpg

Card Details: Very little stamping “Believe” sentiment, pattern paper Candy Cane Lane-Polar Pinstripes & Snowy Jo-Snow Soiree and those gorgeous “Snowflowers” are from Imaginisce. Hope you likey - be sure to check out the other JBE DT samples - links for their blogs on righthand sidebar under Jacksonbelle Embellishment DT.  Enjoy and Create, Lila
