Anticipating 25th Anniversary

Posted in Recent projects at 9:05 am

Scott and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary the end of April. In preparation I’ve decided on the cutest invitation for a small group of friends and family. I think it’s so cute because of the ready made Eyelet Stationery from Martha Stewart AND these cutest ever “Anniversary Birds” being released in March from Verve Visual. Together truly is the perfect way to spend a lifetime.

Simple Beginnings - Verve Visual style

Posted in Recent projects at 4:30 am

Julee, Verve Visual, put a challenge out to the design team this month for Back to Basics - I hope you are enjoying our Back to Basics series featured on the VV Blog. It provided me the opportunity to reflect and remember how it all began…. since my memory is a little foggy as to what year I started stamping I rummaged through my stamps and catalogs for the earliest dates…. still not quite certain but probably about 1998-99. My oldest daughter, Courtney, an avid scrapbooker even as a teenager hosted a D.O.T.S. (now Close to My Heart) in home party. I’m a sap and made a sympathy purchase…. a couple of solid leaf images, one stamp pad, and a half-dozen markers (because the markers could be just as effective as a stamp pad) and a package of white paper. Well, the rubber stamping world has made significant strides, blended with scrapbooking and other crafts. I like to think my abilities have also improved but the simple and clean designs and basic techniques are still a favorite - not to mention fast and very do-able. A basic stamped background, basic solid images, sentiment, a little ribbon, some paper and viola… a card.

Stamp Sets: “Serenity” (Verve Visual); “French Script” background & “The Shape of Things” (SU)

Ink: So Saffron (ink pad), Real Red & Always Artichoke markers (SU); Onyx Black (VersaFine)
Accessories: Red grosgrain & dimensionals ( SU)

Happy Birthday K & K

Posted in Recent projects at 7:48 pm

So today is my youngest brother’s, Kelly, birthday and tomorrow is my second to youngest brother’s, Kyle, birthday. They are a year apart lacking that one day. Now my birthday is also in February and I was chatting with my youngest daughter Carly the other day and we figured out that most likely the three of us were conceived on my Mom and Dad’s anniversary….. hummmmm. I made the same card for them since they don’t live near each other and probably don’t get much of a chance to visit my blog…. I felt pretty safe with that one.kk-h-bday.jpg

Ink: Onyx Black (VersaFine) and Jumbo Java (VersaMagic)

Colored with Prisma Color Pencils and little stitched ribbon (SU) finishes it off.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Posted in Recent projects at 5:36 am

Hugs & Kisses to my husband Scott and girls Courtney & Carly - they are truly my loves - oh! and don’t forget the dog MAX! Now I suppose today I can get a little sappy!!! Scott and I have been married almost 25 years - we will celebrate our anniversary the end of April. Yes, we’ve had our challenges but for the most part, we’ve been supportive and love each other. Although I don’t say it enough - I love you sweetie!!

I have to say too, I’m truly blessed to have wonderful friends that hold a special place in my heart - AND my brothers with their wives along with nieces and nephews AND my Mother. I’m very blessed to love and be love.

I’ve had a chance to play just a little - in between assignments - I’ve gotten a couple of new stamp sets from Artistic Outpost - they include “My Knight” and “Serenity”, had a chance to use more of my Basic Grey “Two Scoops”, Tim Holtz Grungeboard, and Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels. I’m really diggin these two cards.

It’ really hard for me to get a good picture of bling or shimmer - but it’s there - for certain. A little extra information on the bird detail - I used a Heidi Swap ghost bird shape - put some VersaMark all over it and then black embossing powder - had to be a little careful since the ghost is plastic and kind of got a little soft and pliable when being heated - but once it cooled was perfect.Again, Happy Valentine’s Day - hugs!!! Enjoy and create, Lila

Oh, I’m so tired of Snow!

Posted in Recent projects at 5:09 am

I really getting in the mood for Spring - I’d much rather have rain instead of snow. I think our area has more than reached the necessary snow fall for our Spring water run off - we should have plenty of water for Spring and Summer needs. February 2 was Groundhogs day - the news said he DID NOT see his shadow - so what does that mean again? Early or late Spring???

I needed a quick little bright and cheerful card for Linnecards.com weekly challenge - the “Doodling” challenge for me looks like this:

4-blog-doodle-challenge.jpg

My attempt at a little doodling….
Small Giraffe stamp from Autumn Leaves
White cardstock (Papertrey Select), black C/S Stampin up - Pattern Papers: Foyer Dots & Woods Fern (Chatterbox); piece of scrap blue (DCWV); Glitter Solid Aqua (Making Memories)

Ink & Accessories: stamped image with Onyx Black (VersaFine); colored image with Prisma Color Pencils; small butterfly brad (Making Memories); white taffeta ribbon (SU); small safety pin (EK Success); doodling done with Black Copis Multiliner .05

A couple of things to mention - be sure to check out Verve Visuals Card Contest - Julee will be having random drawings throughout the contest and someone will be selected as an Honored Guest for the Design Team - details HERE - check the January 31 post.

I’ve also been invited to join another design team - Creative Cuts and More - it’s a company that has thousands of dies and a huge variety of papers and the like for cutting. Instead of having to self-purchase the die, I can order it cut and mailed to me. Terry uses primarily Accucut dies, however does carry other brands - and she’s still adding to her website and purchase more (especially some of the new releases - oh ya!!!) So be watching for more 3-D type projects from me…. in the meantime must be getting ready and off for the paid job. Enjoy and create, Lila
