Blogger’s Challenge Week 11
This is the first Blogger’s Challenge for me - but Week 11 for the original group. The challenge for this week was to use the card sample from Stampin Up’s Holiday Mini catty page 12 as a starting point. I did two challenges - one for an upcoming 2nd Birthday and the other in preparation for the holidays. Here’s the first sample:
I used DCWV pattern papers - rather than using three different patterns for the panels I decided that I really wanted to use just the one paper but wanted three distinct animals showing. The star is from Heidi Swapp covered with SU pumpkin cardstock and trimmed, Essential Glue pad direct to paper over the top and then SU Dazzling Diamonds on top. Stamped Happy sentiment from SU’s “It’s All Good” set and punched, applied a rub-on (2nd) from Doodlebug, then layered onto a piece of pumpkin. The original sample did not have the strip across the bottom, but I really want to (1) ground the front of the card and (2) use another piece of DCWV pattern paper. A little grosgrain is tied across the top.
This last card is more true to the sample for the starting point, except I did not use a star in the bottom right corner. The pattern papers are from 7gypsies “Zanzibar” 6X6 variety pack. The colors matched perfectly with SU’s Cranberry and River Rock cardstock. Stamps are from Hero Arts - the sentiment was inked first with River Rock and then a little Cranberry was put on just the JOYs - punched using Marvy circle and layered onto a punched Marvy Scallop. The Holiday bird image was stamped using Palette Burnt Umber, lightly colored with blender pen using River Rock. The wings are paper pieced using a little leftover Zanzibar and adhered. A little glitter pen from Sakura highlighted the bird wings, Christmas ornament, and doodled around the scalloped circle. Top is finished with SU twill.
This was a really fun challenge and look forward to next week. Enjoy, lila

Great cards! I love the little birthday card but the bird card is equally as stunning!
