What a whirlwind of a week - I finally was able to finish my Blogger’s Challenge for the week. Keeping the details simple - simple technique “Resist”
Stamp Sets: This cute little snowman is a Karen Lockhart colored with Copic markers, sentiment from A Muse.
Cardstock: Stampin Up- Not Quite Navy, Blue Bayou, glossy; Doodle Bug embossed papers and frills.
I custom made my Spectrum pad using Ranger’s Cut-N-Dry stamp pad felt trimmed to the width of my brayer and about 4″ high. Using Stampin Up reinkers I line the strips of ink (I found that using some of SU’s stamp set cases make a nice holder for the pad - put in before adding inkers - and will accommodate the brayer - close and it will keep just like other pads) Reinkers: SU Not Quite Navy, Blue Bayou, Garden Green, Wasabi, Celery
So now I have my Spectrum pad. I cut my glossy and then stamp loose pattern using VersaMark. Let sit for a couple of minutes, with inked brayer cover the glossy paper.
The rest is pretty straight forward. Enjoy, Lila

I know I’m posting a little early but there is a real good reason. I’m headed down the highway - can you can Road Trip? No kids no husbands- just me and Kim. We’re on our way to Spokane where we will be taking two classes instructed by Karen Lockhart - can you believe it??? We are also going to be stopping at several scrapbooking and rubber stamping stores along the way - One in particular will be Daisy Bucket - the manufacturer has a store. Will be sure to share when we get back…..
On to the Blogger’s challenge - this week’s challenge was to use embossing. There are several types of embossing and I decided to cheat a little and use my Cuttlebug embossing folders - much easier on the hands.

The base for my card is SU River Rock cardstock, designer papers are from Webster’s Pages - Yum, Yum, (not the name of the papers but rather my description of the paper). I ran a piece of Webster through my Cuttlebug embossing folder and then lightly sanded to make the images more apparent. Chipboard piece is from Maya Road and colored with ink. Some Prima Essentials II stacked on top of each other and finished with a little Martha Stewart ribbon in French Knots holds and ties everything together.
Enjoy - can’t wait to see everyone’s challenge pieces. Lila

I’ve had a chance to work on a couple of layouts featuring my daughters. With my last Blogger’s Challenge last week there were some comments and concerns that we wore our cosmetics like the MAC inspiration piece. As you can see we don’t! The inspiration piece is a marketing pic that MAC used to highlight their products. I still think their products and pigments are gorgeous!!!! and if I do say so myself - my daughters are also GORGEOUS!!! Take a look.

Here’s a LO with my beautiful, beautiful girls. I may be a little bias but I think they are gorgeous!!!
This is a 12X12 layout. Pattern papers from Fancy Pants “Sweet Pea: Abigail & Claire”. Fancy Pants acrylic stamp “From the Garden”. Cardstock and half-pearls from Stampin Up. Inks are VersaMagic “Hint of Pesto, Perfect Plumeria, Jumbo Java, Tea Leaves, & Pink Petunia”. Accessories - Ziz Zag Machine stitching - TITLE - hand trimmed from cardstock using cutting knife then shaded with VersaMagic Jumbo Java ink
How about another with the oldest - Courtney???
12X12 layout of my oldest daughter when she graduated from high school. Us girls love to listen to the Dixie Chicks - the title for this LO of from their album “Taking the Long Way” I wrote some of the lyrics - especially those I felt pertained to Courtney around the edges. Supplies used: Crate Paper “Baby Bee” Collection. Believe it or not there is no ink or rubber stamping. Rub-ons are from Me & My Big Ideas and WeRMemoryKeepers Precious Metal coppered out. Primas from Essentials 2 collection. FoofLa buttons tied with linen thread. Journaling done with Gelistix. I really liked how this turned out and more importantly expresses Courtney’s attitudes and journey through her young life. What a great strong young woman. Much love to you, Mom
Enjoy their beauty, lila

This week’s challenge was “Inspired By” theme - taking a pattern in a piece of clothing, colors in a rug…Some design that inspires you to create a card or project. My inspiration piece came from MAC Cosmetics. My girls and I use MAC exclusively. Here’s a pic of my inspiration

The MAC cosmetics are beautiful pigment powders and instantly made me think of gold leafing - thus the inspiration for my card.

My card uses the most gorgeous Paper Salon designer papers in rich Autumn colors. The base of the card is SU Ruby Red cardstock stamped with SU Canvas background and Baroque Motifs using VersaMark. A layered strip of Paper Salon papers across the mid section. The SU Fabulous Flowers was stamped with VersaMark, a little Heat N Stick, then applied the gold leafing, and trimmed. I stamped and leafed two identical images - layering the center with dimensionals to give a a little more depth. Sentiment is also from SU Fabulous Flowers set stamped with VersaMark and then copper embossing powder. Three copper brads on the right side finish the card.
What inspires you? Look around - every day I see inspiration in so many things - now I just need to find the time and take that inspiration. I really enjoyed this challenge and loved using the gold leafing and rich Autumn colors. Can’t wait to see all the other Blogger’s Challenges. Enjoy, Lila

This is the first Blogger’s Challenge for me - but Week 11 for the original group. The challenge for this week was to use the card sample from Stampin Up’s Holiday Mini catty page 12 as a starting point. I did two challenges - one for an upcoming 2nd Birthday and the other in preparation for the holidays. Here’s the first sample:

I used DCWV pattern papers - rather than using three different patterns for the panels I decided that I really wanted to use just the one paper but wanted three distinct animals showing. The star is from Heidi Swapp covered with SU pumpkin cardstock and trimmed, Essential Glue pad direct to paper over the top and then SU Dazzling Diamonds on top. Stamped Happy sentiment from SU’s “It’s All Good” set and punched, applied a rub-on (2nd) from Doodlebug, then layered onto a piece of pumpkin. The original sample did not have the strip across the bottom, but I really want to (1) ground the front of the card and (2) use another piece of DCWV pattern paper. A little grosgrain is tied across the top.

This last card is more true to the sample for the starting point, except I did not use a star in the bottom right corner. The pattern papers are from 7gypsies “Zanzibar” 6X6 variety pack. The colors matched perfectly with SU’s Cranberry and River Rock cardstock. Stamps are from Hero Arts - the sentiment was inked first with River Rock and then a little Cranberry was put on just the JOYs - punched using Marvy circle and layered onto a punched Marvy Scallop. The Holiday bird image was stamped using Palette Burnt Umber, lightly colored with blender pen using River Rock. The wings are paper pieced using a little leftover Zanzibar and adhered. A little glitter pen from Sakura highlighted the bird wings, Christmas ornament, and doodled around the scalloped circle. Top is finished with SU twill.
This was a really fun challenge and look forward to next week. Enjoy, lila

It’s been quite a few days since I’ve posted and need to get you all caught up… First, I’ve been working on and have finished my submissions for PatStamp’s Technique Junkies Newsletter. This is truly one of my favorite and most time consuming stamping activities - there are several reasons. First, the techniques are always stunning and I have to try each one - besides completing the assigned techniques with samples. The next newsletter comes out in October and this will be in celebration of the TJ’s 5th Anniversary Celebration. That kind of celebration deserves my best work… Make sure you take a look cause I know that Pat has a couple of guest designers for this issue not to mention fabulous techniques.
I’m also having a great deal of fun providing stamped challenges and samples for Linnecards. Unfortunately, I don’t have much time to take the challenge from the other designers and run with them. Maybe I’ll have a chance in the next few weeks. In the meantime here are a couple of samples for Linnecards this past week. As many of you may know, I am a defender of White Stazon. It has many wonderful uses and applications - it does not behave (ink wise) like pigment or chalk inks. I think that many users of White Stazon expect the results to be like pigment or chalk inks especially when used on cardstock- sorry ladies and gentlemen, the results on cardstock will not be like those inks. The results, however, are AWESOME when used on non-porous surfaces like glass, photos, plastic, transparencies, etc. So here are a few of my samples using White Stazon on surfaces other than cardstock.

The above sample uses Fancy Pants stamped with Black Stazon. The Heidi Swapp ghost flowers (which are made from plastic) are stamped with Stampin Up script using WHITE STAZON. It dries immediately and permanently. The flowers were then attached with rhinestone brads from Stampin Up. Pretty simple, but I really like the look.

This sample above uses a cellophane bag to hold doggie treats. The cellophane bag was stamped using Stampin Up’s Plaid background, again using WHITE STAZON. The topper was made with Cosmo Cricket patter paper from Little Boys Biography Collection. The dog bone and sentiment are from Sassafras “Woof! Woof!” stamp set - cute huh?

The above sample may have been seen by some of you before. It’s an old standby for upcoming Gobblins. The stamps are from Stampin Up and again, the web is stamped onto a cello bag using WHITE STAZON. The rest is pretty straight forward.
For more samples using white stazon visit Linnecards‘ gallery.
Long post, I know, but I’m playing catch-up too! I’ve been invited to join the Blogger’s Challenge - what a great group of women. Many of these ladies I’ve already become long-distance friends with and there are several who I’ve yet to really meet (at least through the cyber friendship link). I can’t wait to meet them and rekindle friendships. Stay tuned, the challenge primarily for me will be to update my blog every Friday…..to check out the other bloggers see the heading and links on the right sidebar? So with that being said…. I’ll see you here again tomorrow. Enjoy, Lila
