Challenges Linnecard style

Posted in Recent projects at 4:38 am

Here are a couple of samples for my challenges on Linnecards yesterday. This first one is really out of my comfort zone. I did enjoy pushing my creativity and using the new Basic Grey Obscure papers and fibers.

The challenge for this week’s Bounce Back Sunday is embossing. Now this is really out of my comfort zone - not the embossing but the design and images. It’s more for the youngsters today. It uses the skull stamp image from Inkadinkado with flourishes from Autumn leaves. Stamped with VersaMark and embossed with black embossing powder. The designer papers and fibers are from Basic Grey Obscure. Cardstock, rhinestone brads, and stamp sentiment from Stampin Up. This also uses a die cut from Sizzix.

Now this next one is more in my comfort zone.

Suzann’s color challenge this week was Blue and Brown - she’s absolutely correct that this combo can be used for so many occasions. This sample uses stamped images from Impression Obsession. Stamped with Graphite Black Brilliance ink and colored with Copic Markers. A little Ranger Stickles for the rising steam. Cardstock from Stampin Up and the designer paper is from Basic Grey Periphery - I did some over stamping with IO flourishes using VersaMagic inks. Ribbon sash is Stampin Up and the rub on sentiment is unknown.

Enjoy - will have a couple more challenges to post a little later this week. lila

Some scrapbook time

Posted in Recent projects at 8:01 pm

I’ve been working on a couple of layouts - now if you know me, I’m not really much of a scrapbooker but I’m working on it. The boys in these layouts belong to one of my co-workers. She is wonderful about printing pics for my layouts - not to mention that she has the cutest little subjects!! I made these for Linnecards weekly and daily challenges.

Lazy Sunday….Bliss

Posted in Recent projects at 12:44 pm

Our youngest daughter (16 yrs) is visiting her sister in Eugene, OR. About 7 hours away - she’s been gone over a week and returns a couple of days before school. Now, not that she makes a big mess all the time, or that she needs clean clothes or food but it requires a fair amount of my time. I’ve been having some “me time” and will get even a little more. I had so much fun and laughed to myself - the whole time - making this sample. I don’t know why but it just “Quacked” me up…. it was for the Linnecard weekly challenge using one of Sharon’s sketches.4-blogone-of-a-kind-sketch.jpg

I just got this great paper from Linnecard it’s new from Autumn Leaves - I’d call it the Foliage series. Cardstock is from Stampin Up, Inks from Stewart Superior Palette & SU with blending pen. The stamps - from Technique Tuesday “Dog & Pony Show” - I think this set is just Stinkin CUTE! The little sentiment along the right side is from Stampin Up and squiggles were made using a Sakura Black Glaze pen.

This next samples using one of my favorite techniques right now - paper piecing. One know, where you stamp an image and then again on a patter paper, cut and trim close, and then glue pieces/sections over the original stamped image?? Well this next sample reminds me of a fellow blogger who love, love, loves bright colors - yes, Amy - funny I suppose, she was making a card for today which she said was not her usual color scheme - hers were brown, blacks and cream. One of the SCS celebration DTGD challenges. Well, I would say those are more of my colors…. anyway looks like we decided to challenge each other and didn’t even know it. Here’s my sample using more the BRIGHT colors

Paper Piecing was also the daily challenge I threw out there for Linnecard. This sample uses Daisy D pattern papers, Stewart Superior Palette “Burnt Umber” and Sassafralass “Oliver & Friends” stamp set with Verve Visual for the sentiment. The fibers are from Basic Grey “Obscure”.

Now back to more my colors - here’s my sample I created for the SCS Celebration challenge - Black, Brown, Creme

Well, I have most of my domestic duties done for the day. I’m going to get a snack and then do some more stamping - imagine that……. Lazy Sunday - True Bliss. Enjoy your day, lila

Get your VERVE on!

Posted in Recent projects at 4:37 am

So Julee from Verve Visual is getting ready to release her next red rubber set “Fancy Florals”. I got a chance to create a couple of samples. This first one reminds me of my grandmother. She was the most accomplished Quilter I have ever seen. Grandma and Grandpa DeLeeuw had five daughters, they in-turn got married and had their own children. Their children had children. We had a family reunion August 2006 and counted - there were over 150 descendents. My grandmother made quilts for each of her grand and great-grandchildren. We all received one as a newborn, then when we graduated from high school, and then again when we were married. I still have all mine (except for when I was a toddler - cause I wore it out). This is as close as I can come to quilting.

Sugar, Sugar - Verve Visual Style

Posted in Recent projects at 4:45 am

So today is the launch of Verve Visual and my friend Julee has been working hard to bring you some SUGAR - One of the items she will be carrying is 6X6 paper from Memory Box. There are several collections to choose from. I was able to get my hands on a couple of collections and they are SWEET. Made from good quality cardstock and doublesided!!! The following are some samples from the “Sugar Collection”. I’ve been working on some All Occasion cards to sell. They will be in a gift box (you know those awesome ones from Paper Trey Ink?? - I haven’t told you how cool they are…. will save for another day). These were done with more of a feminine touch. Stamps are from Stampin Up, PaperTrey, and Amuse.

Verve Visual has one stamp set ready to go. The set is made from red unmounted rubber and deeply etched. Julee has thin mounting foam available - highly recommended for the sentiment set - the thin mount foam keeps smaller images from rocking and give a nice crisp image. She will be having a new release soon…… so take a look for today and keep coming back. Enjoy, lila
