Paying it Forward

Posted in Recent projects at 4:33 am

So my “Paying in Forward” does not involve blog candy or give aways to those who visit my blog, but rather sending my projects and card creations to someone who may need a little lift or bright spot in their day. One of the Yahoo Groups I belong to has an area for RAK or Sharing requests. The following cards were done for a 3 year old little boy and a 15 year old boy - both with terminal illnesses. First I can’t even imagine the heartache a mother, father and other family members must feel.

The above card was for the 3 yr old little boy. It uses Crate Paper, Technique Tuesday “Gee Whiz” stamps, and VersaMagic Aspen Mist, Sahara Sand, and Pumpkin Spice. I made a mask by cutting an oval, using the negative and stippling the color through. Once stippled was done, lifted mask and stamped the “G”, “iggle”, and gorilla/monkey. Slot punched the left edge and ran some May Arts ribbon through, tied on front.

The above card was for the 15 yr old boy. There is no stamping involved - I know hard to believe. I used some of the new KI Memories Love Elsie “Roxie” paper, cut for card front, and highlighted a couple of the doodles with alcohol ink pens (Prismamarkers). Then I used a little Stickles here and there. The stars are Heidi Swapp ghosts colored with the alcohol pens and then adhered with MM brads.

I find it challenging for me to create cards that young adults, especially young men, would like to receive. I tried to keep this card bright and cheerful and not girly.

I must also note that I created these cards and shared for my first assignment on Linnecards Design Team. The challenge was “Inking”. Stay tuned for a couple more to share tomorrow as I pay it forward. Enjoy, Lila

These are terrific! What a kickin’ pair of submissions for your first assignment! And the best part? They’ll be so welcomed and so appreciated by the recipients who could really use a bright spot in their days. Have I told you lately that you totally rock?

What a great way to pay it forward. How sad for the families of these kids. Love what you did with both cards, but that little monkey is ADORABLE!
