A Little Optimism - 12X12 Canvas

Posted in Recent projects at 3:14 pm

So recently I participated in a challenge and this was my creation.  Is is a 12X12 canvas painted with Ranger Acrylic paint “Espresso”.  Then I used a piece of SU Chocolate Chip 12X12 cardstock and painted the edges with the Espresso, let dry, then applied Delta Crackle finish - dry until tacky (following the instructions) over painted with Delta “Cream” acrylic for this KEWL crackle/weathered finish.  Attached the cardstock background using ArtQuest paper adhesive.  then I took this wonderful picture my youngest daughter took at the local Botanical Garden late summer 2007 and mounted it on Ruby Red.  Hand lettered the quote from Robert Collier “You can do anything you think you can.  This knowledge is literally the gift of the Gods, for through it you can solve every human problem.  It should make of you an incurable optimist.  It is the open door.”  Attached the mounted picture to the canvas with that red double sided sticky tape (you know the tape that is a real bitch trying to get the red off??).  The hinges are from Basic Gray which were painted with the Espresso, then used the faux metal finish technique from PatStamps - where you use the end of a paint brush and stab/press into the chipboard to create dimples, then you lightly apply Perfect Pearls (you can use PearlEx with gum arabic) to create the aged or faux pantina look.

I was really quite please with the results of this project.  I plan to take and hang in my workspace (cubicle) to encourage my clients to have optimism.

I hope you enjoy ……optimist.jpg

A Couple of Layouts I’ve been working on

Posted in Recent projects at 8:47 pm

Here are a couple of layouts for a Technique Tuesday layout contest - you are supposed to use a technique other than plain ol’ rubber and ink. This first one is a rather “Cutesy” one - the little boy Maddox belongs to a friend of mine from my paid job - cute little subject isn’t he?

The next one is a little more “Edgy” - I just have to use the newer Creative Imaginations paper and Technique Tuesday’s “Skin Deep” stamp set that has tattoos!!! The picture is children that belong to another co-worker - she’s got the two boys and two girls - the kids each have their own tattoo - a sign of independence and a little rebellion - love it.

Getting started with my new blog thing - not certain where to being - guess just wanting to say Hello to everyone.  My intention of this is to share my inspiration, creativity, and recent projects that use rubber stamping (my favorite!!!), scrapbooking and other paper projects.  This is being shared with family (so they can see my latest reasons for maybe not keeping in touch like I should) and for friends (many of whom share the same passions - uh…. addictions.

This is a card I recently created for a baby shower - a special friend Lisa who after several attempts and years of trying to conceive now is blessed with twins in the incubator…..  so happy for her and husband Bobby.
